ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Cost Accountant will be responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting on data for informed decision making. The successful candidate will be motivated and have 5+ years of hands on accounting experience with complex datasets and cost allocation models.
This is a key hands-on role within the finance team supporting the organisation’s performance. You will support the delivery of accurate, timely financial results and analysis, whilst contributing towards continuous improvement.
Your role will be varied and evolving as the company grows. Key activities include :
- Financial analysis - Analysing data to provide key insights into product mixes, site performance and operating costs. Perform data integrity testing and validation of datasets.
- Project cost analysis - Develop, manage and report variance analyses of the existing farm to assist future sites.
- Performance measurement - Monitoring of budgets against actual results to establish how well the business is performing.
- Financial modelling - Modelling of the existing and future farms to support future growth and new product launches.
- Multi-entity financial reporting - On-time month end reporting for multiple entities, multiple sites and multiple departments. Using cost drivers for best resource allocation. Assisting with the reconciliation of intercompany, balance sheet and general ledger.
- Budgeting & forecasting - Assist with budgeting and forecasting preparation and models. Updating the 5 year rolling forecast and measuring forecast to actual with variance analysis and providing key insights.
- Additional tasks - Assisting with working capital management, debtor and creditor management.
ABOUT YOU
The right candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and qualifications:
- Outcome focused with the ability to achieve results to deadline
- Excellent well developed problem solving and analytical skills
- Working knowledge of cost accounting is desirable
- An appreciation of the complexities of running a commercial business with an understanding of manufacturing an advantage
- Well-developed time management skills, effectively organising and prioritising workloads
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Data savvy and ideally have experience using an ERP system
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline
- CPA / CA qualified
- Minimum 5 years experience in commercial or manufacturing accounting
