About the opportunity:An exciting opportunity has become available for a Cost Controller to join the Office of Hydrogen Power SA. The Cost Controller works to ensure all cost information is managed and maintained to provide accurate and timely cost analysis and reporting. The Cost Controller will collaborate with the Principal Contractor and Program Management Contractor to provide strategic financial advice to the leadership team as to how to optimise project and operational spend.

The Office of Hydrogen Power SA is the lead unit for responsible for overseeing the South Australian government’s hydrogen industry development and hydrogen project delivery. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the development of world-leading hydrogen projects and South Australia’s continued clean energy transition.  

About us: The Office of Hydrogen Power SA (OHPSA) is harnessing South Australia’s abundant renewable energy resources to accelerate the growth of South Australia’s hydrogen industry, establish a globally competitive export offer and continue our state’s world leadership in the clean energy transition to safely and sustainable generate the energy and low carbon products of the future.  

OHPSA is responsible for several South Australian government priorities including: 

  • delivery Hydrogen Jobs Plan, which will see the development of a world-leading hydrogen-fuelled power station, hydrogen production facility and associated storage in the Upper Spencer Gulf
  • working with industry partners to deliver the Port Bonython Hydrogen Export Hub project as South Australia's first large-scale export terminal for hydrogen.
  • hydrogen industry development activities to ensure South Australia is at the forefront of renewable hydrogen production. 

Growth of South Australia’s hydrogen industry will help to unlock:  

  • thousands of new jobs for South Australians
  • economic growth in the Upper Spencer Gulf region and across South Australia
  • lower electricity prices for South Australian business and industry 
  • enhanced energy system security and reliability 
  • a new export sector for South Australia 
  • support for new and existing sustainable manufacturing industries
  • the development of a substantial pipeline of renewable energy projects in South Australia 

OHPSA is an attached office to the Department for Energy and Mining.

Key Selection Criteria:Please only address the dot points listed below in your application

  • Extensive prior experience developing and managing project budgets and costs in line with project timelines for large and complex projects / engineering initiatives either in the private or public sector.
  • Previous experience in monitoring and updating forecasts, estimates and internal costs and integrating figures into wider project budgets.
  • Experience in collaborating and coordinating with multiple contractor Cost Controllers to source, obtain, consolidate and report on project costs.
  • Experience in accurately maintaining a cost management and reporting system.
  • Financial, data and cost analysis skills to interpret financial data and make sound predictors about the future of projects and proven ability to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Comprehensive experience reviewing and managing the timely payment of supplier invoices.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience providing high level strategic advice and information to a wide range of people and groups

Qualifications:

  • Relevant professional tertiary qualification in accounting or finance, or applicable equivalent exposure in other Cost Controller or cost estimator roles, resulting in an in-depth understanding of project accounting practices and applicable theory.

Remuneration: ASO7, $106,512 - $115,137 per annum
Full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week
