We are proud to serve our community through operating with transparency, integrity and in the best interests of the Bayside community to deliver exceptional service.About the roleThe Councillor Support Officer is responsible for providing high-level executive and administrative support to elected Council members while maintaining confidentiality. Duties include preparing invitations, updating portals, and handling urgent or sensitive issues. Additionally, handle service requests, conduct research, and assist with internal audits. Support the Audit Risk & Improvement Committee and ensure compliance with disclosure requirements. You can also expect to:Be responsible for preparing all required Councillor invitations and updating the Councillor Portal as required.Escalate Councillor issues, particularly those of an urgent, controversial or politically sensitive nature.Assist and process Councillor expense claims and provide equipment support to Councillors.Prepare six monthly and annual statutory reports on Councillor expenses.Maintain relevant records to ensure all information and written communication is accurately and correctly stored and accessible.Process and document Councillor Service Requests, information and expenses to ensure they are up to date and are processed within set timeframes. Prepare other reports for internal and/or Council’s consideration as required. Undertake necessary research and analysis as required. Support and provide administrative assistance to the Audit Risk & Improvement Committee (ARIC) and internal audit function of Council.Prepare, co-ordinate and publish Business Papers and Minutes of ARIC and relevant Councillor forums.About youWe are looking for an agile and dynamic leader who has the following:Tertiary or other qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field.Our benefits and cultureAs an organisation, we pride ourselves in offering a flexible working environment centred on delivering great outcomes for our customers, whether internal or external.
