The Position:
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Creative Lead for our Homewares & Found Objects division. In this role, you will spearhead the creative direction of our homewares collection, utilizing Found Objects to create unique, sustainable, and functional designs. You will collaborate with a team of designers, artisans, and suppliers to develop products that are not only beautiful but also tell a story.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creative process from concept to final product for homewares and Found Objects.
- Collaborate with designers and suppliers to source materials and understand their potential uses and limitations.
- Develop innovative and sustainable design solutions that align with our company’s vision and values.
- Foster a collaborative and inspiring work environment, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Work closely with the marketing team to ensure products are presented in a way that highlights their unique qualities and backstory.
- Stay updated on industry trends and integrate relevant ideas into the design process.
- Embrace challenges and think outside the box to create standout products that resonate with our customers.
- Activate and enhance the client experience with a deep understanding of our client’s offerings.
- Collaborate with the purchasing team and head of furniture to ensure cohesive product development.
The Candidate:
- 5+ years of industry experience in a Creative Lead or similar role within the homewares or interior design industry.
- Strong portfolio showcasing innovative designs and creative use of materials.
- Excellent leadership and collaboration skills.
- Deep understanding of sustainable design principles and practices.
- Ability to think critically and solve problems effectively.
- Passion for storytelling through design and an appreciation for the history and potential of Found Objects.
- Must be located in or willing to relocate to Sydney and able to travel as required.
- High level of curiosity and passion for design.
- Strong commercial acumen.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take a brief and run with it.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Team player, change agent, and lover of design.
- Ability to work autonomously while reporting to the head of furniture.
- Design-forward thinker with a focus on people and progression.
