ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity within our Strategy and Improvement team for a dynamic Business Improvement Project Officer who is dedicated to helping to drive Business Improvement and positive, meaningful change across the organisation. To be successful in this role you will be passionate about promoting and embedding best practice improvement principles and applying change management techniques to make us a more efficient and effective organisation. Reporting to the Coordinator Business Improvement and Implementation, the purpose of the role is to support the work done in building a culture of continuous improvement at the organisation. The primary focus of this role will be using project management skills and experience to the implementation projects flowing out of various improvement reviews across the business. 

The successful applicant will require:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Business Improvement or other related discipline and/or demonstrated relevant experience
  • High level practical experience in a Business Improvement role or project management
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating Lean Six Sigma or comparable Business Improvements to deliver successful and significant business outcomes along with a demonstrated ability to identify, implement and review the process to affect change(s) in service delivery
  • Experience in creating and executing change management strategies and plans that maximise employee adoption and minimise resistance
  • Demonstrated experience in project management including scoping, design, resourcing, report writing and delivery of complex projects to agreed time, cost and quality
  • Highly developed facilitation and presentation skills across all levels of the organisation
  • Highly developed prioritisation skills and the ability to manage multiple high profile projects with competing deadlines concurrently
  • Strong information system skills and understanding of process mapping software and data analysis tools, and ability to learn new systems
  • High level skills in data extraction, cleansing and analysis
  • Behaviour that positively demonstrates Council’s values

About this role: 

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) 
  • Located at Council's Merrylands Office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 12 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,844.36 to $2,121.02 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation (please note this salary range and superannuation percentage will apply from the first pay period in July 2024) 
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
