Branch: City Planning and Economic Development

Salary Range: Band 3 AUD $76,297 to $81,262 per annum + superannuation + benefits (Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Work type: 1x Temporary full-time position

Duration: 12 months (possible extension thereafter but not guaranteed)

Location: Brisbane Central and CBD

Our Branch

City Planning and Economic Development (CPED) Branch is responsible for the strategic direction of the future planning and shape of Brisbane through the development of the City Plan, local plans, city and suburban projects, supporting infrastructure, long-term economic growth and planning modules.

Council’s City Malls Management team is responsible for managing operations, local laws and public safety of the Queen Street Mall, Reddacliff Place, Brunswick Street Mall and Chinatown Mall (Valley Malls).

The Role

The Customer Liaison Officer is a dynamic role, requiring a diverse set of skills. In particular, local laws knowledge, customer service, communication and reporting. You will be patrolling the City Malls areas regularly, to monitor, assist and provide a customer service interface with Malls stakeholders, businesses, traders, patrons and visitors.

You will report to the City Malls Operations Manager and work closely with the Senior Customer Liaison Officer and a team of other Customer Liaison Officers. You will also work closely with Council’s CitySafe CCTV Operations Centre and contractor services to ensure the Malls are safe, clean, and well maintained, and undertake enforcement activities to ensure local laws within the Malls is adhered to.

You will be ideal for this role if you are a customer-focused, proactive problem solver who can engage, educate and investigate across diverse working environments. We would also love to hear from you if you are responsive, respectful and can react to changing circumstances.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • experience in ordinance enforcement practices, and/or, an authorised officer under the City of Brisbane Act 2010
  • experience working in a busy customer service-based environment in an outdoor and diverse retail environment
  • a positive attitude with strong conflict management and interpersonal skills
  • the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively.

An understanding of the Malls work environment including recognition of the relevant business, legislative, social and cultural issues and the ability to use software packages such as the Microsoft Office Suite, are desirable, not mandatory.
