The Leidos National Security Sector currently has an opening for a Cybersecurity Engineer Intern on our US National Data Center (NDC) contract in Melbourne, FL. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in cybersecurity while working alongside seasoned professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist in the design and implementation of cybersecurity solutions to protect the organization's networks, systems, and data.
Participate in security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing exercises to identify potential threats and weaknesses.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security controls into new and existing systems and applications.
Help maintain security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, antivirus software, and encryption technologies.
Monitor security events and alerts to identify and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning, optimizing configurations as needed.
Support incident response activities, including investigation, analysis, and remediation of security breaches.
Contribute to the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies through continuous learning and professional development activities.
Document processes, procedures, and findings to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Utilize Satellite Server for centralized management of software updates, patches, and system configurations.
Develop Ansible playbooks for automated provisioning, configuration, and management of Linux systems.
Basic Qualifications
US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices and experience implementing security measures on Linux systems.
Basic knowledge of security tools and technologies.
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and compliance.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborate with others, and contribute to collective goals.
Ability to analyze complex technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and propose effective solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
IAT Level 2 certification (i.e. CompTIA Security+ or CISSP)
Fluent in Red Hat Linux
Familiar with Satellite Server, and Ansible automation tool for configuration management and orchestration.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $44,850.00 - $81,075.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
