About the Role:
As part of our growth, we are seeking a Data Analyst to join the Asset Management team. This is a permanent, full-time role.
As a Data Analyst within our established Asset Management team, you will apply data science principles to the execution of critical data receipt, conversion, standardisation, analysis and delivery tasks. Existing processes are well established, but often require innovation to meet specific project requirements. Collaboration and continuous improvement are highly encouraged.
The delivery of high quality and high confidence data is one of our primary project outputs, meaning the role underpins core business processes and is critical to the overall success of the team.
The successful candidate will meet the core position requirements and align with the Talis culture.
Reporting to Asset Management Section Leader, position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Utilising various software and toolsets to Extract, Translate and Load (ETL) data from a variety of formats into standard structures required to support established business processes
- Data manipulation and processing to produce data outputs that align with established structures, formats and templates
- Configuration of software to support both our field-based and office-based data capture teams
- Liaising closely with project managers to understand specific project requirements, and developing data processing scripts/tools to deliver against those requirements
- Working with geospatial data formats and applying common geoprocessing concepts (snapping, buffering, clipping, etc) – on the job training and mentoring is offered
- Executing assigned tasks independently in a structured and methodical way with a high attention to detail and a focus on consistent and accurate outputs
- Attendance at regular team meetings to ensure relevant scope, objectives and specifications are commonly understood across the team
- Adherence to the Talis Integrated Management System for quality and WHS processes
About you:
- Qualification or relevant industry experience in the field of Data Science
- Experience in the use of Extract, Translate and Load (ETL) software and tool (e.g. FME, R-studio, etc)
- Proven track record of producing high quality and reliable data outputs
- A structured approach to self-checking and quality assurance of data outputs
- Willingness to understand broader project requirements, and develop data reporting structures that align
- The ability to identify process improvements through automation
- Self-motivated with the ability to work within project teams
- The ability to work independently and prioritise workload in a service-driven environment of competing demand drivers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to build trust and rapport with co-workers
- A structured, clear-thinking approach to the execution of tasks
- Experience working with GIS tools (e.g. QGIS) and geospatial data types would be viewed favourably
