About the Unit
The Data Analytics and Insight Unit supports the implementation and drives the execution of the University's data strategy with a key focus leveraging our data assets and driving evidence based decisions. The Unit drives the overall Data, analytics and AI Program and continuously seeks to improve the usability, visibility and management of data assets and works closely with key data and systems managers across the University to achieve the University's objectives and aspirations in relation to data management and use.
The unit has an excellent team culture and utilises the latest technology to ensure that we are providing data, analytics and AI solutions that effectively meet the university needs.
About the Role
The Data Analyst is responsible for the analysis and exploration of business insights across a range of university priorities. The role will seek to leverage data across diverse portfolios and be adapt in querying, analysing, and modelling data to generate actionable insights for University stakeholders
The Data Analyst is able to leverage Business intelligence and visualisation tools to deliver insights and is responsible for partnering with business stakeholders on the exploration analysis and delivery of feasible activities in line with other priorities.
About You
The incumbent is a technical expert who collaborates with various business units across the university to generate actionable insights. The ideal candidate is proactive, self-motivated, and capable of organising their work to meet critical deadlines while remaining adaptable to changing priorities. They should also work effectively with others to achieve successful outcomes.
Specific technology and business knowledge needed:
- Proficiency in SQL; experience with Power BI is a plus.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing design principles.
- Skill in identifying trends, patterns, and insights in datasets
- Strong problem-solving skills to address business challenges with data-driven approaches.

- Minimum undergraduate qualification in IT (or similar)
- Proven experience in a data analysis role, preferably with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets and extract meaningful insights.
- Proven ability to connect and engage with stakeholders and customers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $102,458 to $113,344 pa (HEW 7)
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis. Hybrid working arrangement is currently implemented in the team.
