About the team
This is an exciting opportunity to work in our State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) who regulates three statutory insurance schemes in NSW. This role sits more specifically in our Advanced analytics team, under the Regulatory Intelligence Analytics directorate, who develop modelling and reporting for SIRA, as well as responding to requests for bespoke data analysis to help SIRA regulate and improve the three insurance schemes.

.Your day-to-day
· Identify, interpret and analyse complex data using linking and statistical techniques to answer multifaceted business problems, including the identification of trends and/or patterns in complex data sets, and to create inference or insights.
· Lead the development and implementation of reporting and statistical modelling projects, following software best practice, source control, automation and testable and reusable programming.
· Produce reports, visualisations and recommendations to answer complex business problems that are presented in the most appropriate format to ensure clarity for target audience.
· Analyse and define new process improvement opportunities to support continuous improvement and business outcomes; providing advice to stakeholders, on ways to improve the efficiency and reliability of data products and services. Develop and manage stakeholder relationships through strong and effective communications, managing expectations, mediation and issues management and negotiation to ensure delivery of services and the achievement of outcomes and benefits, engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
· Build, lead and manage team of analysts setting the pace to successfully deliver all key milestones and outcomes within scope, on time and to expected standards, solving issues, unblocking problems, building capability, and guiding teams through the implementation of new processes.
· Development of reusable, testable data analysis scripts in R, Python and SQL and use of source control software GIT.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
· An analytical thinker who can think outside the box to solve complex problems.
· A flexible worker who can adjust their communication style and outputs to suit a variety of stakeholders.
· Solid knowledge in:
o Advanced analytics, manipulation of data and knowledge of relational databases, cloud services and algorithmic efficiency.
o Statistical modelling, linked data analysis, epidemiological methods and appropriate techniques for administrative data analysis.
o Data visualisation and data interpretation
o Modular and replicable analytical techniques using formal version control.
· Technical skills in SQL, R, Python and GIT
· Tertiary qualifications in data engineering/information technology, statistics mathematics or equivalent.
· Excellent skills in technical mentoring and supporting junior team members.
