Data Engineers - Contract Opportunities (Act,Vic,Nsw,Qld)

Our large federal government client is seeking several Data Engineers to support critical data pipelines and complex processing systems, enabling the delivery of Australia's Cyber Defence Capabilities.We are looking for both SFIA 5 and SFIA 6 individuals to engage in mission driven projects, assisting with complex problem solving and issues management to impact on strategic, political, or operational outcomes.Location: This role is based in Canberra, ACT, with options for interstate or remote working arrangements.Contract Terms: The initial contract is for 12 months, with the potential 2 X 12 month extensions.Security Requirements: A minimum AGSVA Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) clearance is required, with higher clearances (NV2, PV) encouraged.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Complex Data Engineering (SFIA5):Identify and undertake analysis to define, structure and solve complex to very complex data engineering challenges.

• Utilise tools and techniques to develop and test data engineering solutions to achieve business outcomes.
• Prepare, publish and provide advice on requirements, current and future state models and plans, designs and solutions to improve data interoperability, storage, analysis and transmission.
• Build maintain and deploy data pipelines analytical environments and models and data stores to store transform, integrate, analyse and transport data and meta-data from a variety of sources to enable others to use and analyse data.
• Manage the risks associated with the use of data including ensuring the security of data storage and transmission mechanisms.
• Build and sustain strong relationships and negotiate with customers and key stakeholders to deliver tailored recommendations.
• Resolve problems and evaluate lessons learned using expertise, professional judgement and initiative to identify and recommend alternative courses of action and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Strategic Data Engineering (SFIA6):

• Accountable to provide a strategic level of specialist and professional analysis to define, structure and solve very complex data engineering challenges.
• Utilise tools and techniques to develop and test data engineering solutions to achieve business outcomes.
• Generate and review very complex advice on requirements, current and future state models and plans, designs and solutions to improve data interoperability, storage, analysis and transmission.
• Build maintain and deploy data pipelines analytical environments and models and data stores to store transform, integrate, analyse and transport data and meta-data from a variety of sources to enable others to use and analyse data.
• Manage the risks associated with the use of data including ensuring the security of data storage and transmission mechanisms.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with a network of key stakeholders to deliver tailored recommendations.
• Analyse very complex problems, applying expertise, professional judgement and initiative to identify and recommend alternative courses of action and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Anticipate changes and establish priorities, monitor progress and work to deliver required corporate outcomes, within the data function.

Job Skills and Qualifications:SFIA 5

• Demonstrated experience as a Data Engineer in large and complex enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated experience in complex to very complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and perform detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience actively managing key stakeholder relationships and identifying relevant stakeholders' expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience in Object Oriented Language (Java, Python, go, JavaScript, SQL, Cypher).
• Demonstrated experience in processing and analytics services. (Spark, Java map reduce, Knative, Ray, NIFI).
• Knowledge or experience in working with Open-search, Neo4j,Redis, Oracle, Kafka, Kubernetes.

SFIA 6

• Demonstrated high-level experience as a Data Engineer in large and very complex enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated experience providing strategic advice to senior management and stakeholders as well as leading and assuming accountability for very complex work that have strategic, political or operational significance.
• Demonstrated experience providing strategic direction to the work unit, including developing business plans, strategies and priorities and monitor work flow.
• Extensive knowledge relating to the methodology, systems and procedures within the data function and have the ability to translate this into strategy.
• Demonstrated experience in Object Oriented Language (Java, Python, go, JavaScript, SQL, Cypher).
• Demonstrated experience in processing and analytics services. (Spark, Java map reduce, Knative, Ray, NIFI).
• Knowledge or experience in working with Open-search, Neo4j,Redis, Oracle, Kafka, Kubernetes.
