We are looking for a Data Assurance Specialist to join our Internal Audit function for a maternity leave contract.
This role will collaborate with the wider Risk and Assurance team, to use data to provide assurance over UnitingCare’s key controls.
Please note: This is a maternity leave contract with hybrid working options. Your days in the office will be located out of our Brisbane office.

Contract end: Jan 2025
Your Part in our UnitingCare team
- Identifying, designing, executing and reporting on data for auditing, risk-based exercises, and process improvement opportunities.
- The application of exceptional ETL and data analytic skills to provide assurance over key processes.
- Identify, coordinate and lead the identification of opportunities to use data in the assessment of risk and internal controls.
- Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency.
- Drive the development, execution, maintenance, and evaluation of data analytics using the Diligent One platform (formerly Highbond) and PowerBI.
- Develop a strategy for extracting raw data, as well as developing data mapping and data flows across UnitingCare source systems.
- Perform trending and analysis over raw data to derive meaningful insights and information presented in the form of reports and dashboards.
- Normalise and maintain the integrity and quality of data in Risk and Assurance analytics systems and project deliverables.
- Develop governance instruments and maintain the repository of analytics developed and executed as part of the Data Assurance program.
- Partner with the broader Risk and Assurance team to train and build expertise in data analysis concepts and tools.
- Assist in performing follow-up reviews to verify that necessary corrective actions have been implemented to correct identified internal control weaknesses (as identified through the Data Assurance program).
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders across the business who are responsible for key data sets.
What makes a difference for us:
The successful candidate will present with:
- Tertiary qualification in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
- Experience working in a data analytics, programming role and/or internal audit role. This includes knowledge and experience with the following
- Query structures (SQL, Oracle)
- Data structures (DB Tables, Flat files, CSV, Excel, JSON, etc.)
- Programming (Python, R, DAX)
- Analytics applications (Diligent or Highbond and ACL Desktop)
- Dashboarding tools (Power BI)
- Office applications (advanced Excel, Word, Outlook skills)
- A good understanding of key businesses processes (e.g. payroll, procure to pay)
- A detail-oriented, analytical mind that enjoys problem-solving and creating efficiencies.
- The ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders and people at all levels within the organisation, on both technical and non-technical concepts.
- The ability to communicate with clinical, technology, finance and operational teams to understand systems build and source data.
Desirable
- Current unrestricted Drivers Licence.
