Dealership Accountant

A position has recently become available for a Dealership Accountant based on-site between our Preston and South Morang dealerships. The position involves management of financial processes, including the accurate recording and reporting of financial information and ensuring statutory obligations are met.

The role is expected to adhere to the strict reporting time frames and deliverables required by the business. 

This is a full-time position. You must be available to work weekdays 8.30am to 5.00pm

Reporting directly to the Dealer Principal and Group Financial Controller, the successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Managing the day-to-day administration responsibilities
• Supporting the accounting department including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general administrative duties
• Completion of monthly financial reporting
• Preparation of daily cash flow
• Preparation and lodgement of monthly BAS, Payroll Tax and annual FBT return
• Credit card reconciliations
• Perform Balance Sheet and General Ledger reconciliations
• Analysis and reporting of departmental operations
• Oversee weekly Payroll and related responsibilities
• Preparation of year end reports

Skills and experience

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and experience:

• 3+ years previous automotive dealership experience as an accountant is highly regarded
• You will have completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business or related discipline
• Excellent organisation and time management skills
• Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
• Processing accuracy and attention to detail
• Disciplined work ethic
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Competent in the use of computer applications
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Ability to work autonomously
• The drive and ambition to progress your career
• A positive and proactive approach
