About the role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Dental Assistant to join us for a fixed term period until December 2024 to cover parental leave. Reporting to the Venue Coordinator, Examination Centre, and based in our Melbourne office you will be part of a vibrant, fun and committed team. Filled with variety the Dental Assistant provides assistance to candidates, examiners and staff to ensure the smooth running of the practical examination.  The Examination Centre is a purpose built, simulated environment that assesses the clinical skills and competencies of overseas trained dental practitioners seeking to register to practice in Australia.  The position involves setting up the Examination Centre, providing assistance to candidates undertaking simulated procedure's, assisting with candidate registration and some administrative duties as required.

In practice this means you will:

• Assist candidates and examiners of the Examination Centre in carrying out daily tasks and procedures.
• Develop strong working relationships with clinical centre staff involved in the practical examination, including administrative, management and clinical staff.
• Maintain Examination Centre facilities, including clinic chairs, examination rooms, briefing rooms and lounges. 
• Assist with setting up and packing up of the clinic, examination rooms and treatment rooms.
• Assist the Venue Coordinator with the maintenance of dental instruments and equipment within the Examination Centre.
• Assist the Venue Coordinator in maintaining adequate stock of consumables and materials.
• Ensure that the implementation of the examination skill tasks are in accordance with the standard operation procedure, quality standards and examination handbook.
• Participate in training as required.
• Assist with preparation of examination materials.
• Ensure the storage, packaging and collection of waste and sharps is in accordance with ADC policies and procedures.

About you

As a successful applicant to the role, you will have:

• Certificate IV in Dental Assisting (Dental Radiography)
• Excellent communication skills with proven ability to liaise with a wide range of individuals
• Ability to closely follow policies and instructions
• A customer service focus and excellent interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with current dental materials and equipment
• Experienced in general maintenance of dental clinics and equipment
• Contemporary knowledge of infection control
• Proven ability to independently organise work priorities, monitor workflow and meet busy schedules.
