The Role
The Deputy Director Emerging Projects is accountable to the Director Joint Logistics Capability Program for providing program/project management support to the Logistics Capability Branch.
They will be responsible for:
- Providing leadership and direction to ensure a high level of performance, integration and consistency in the management of projects and products within the Defence Capability Program
- Leading and undertaking project and program management activities in accordance with the Capability Program Architecture and Defence policies and procedures
- Planning and managing allocated resources, setting program priorities, workflows, work area strategies and evaluating business outcomes
- The management of the Joint Logistics Command Minors process
- The management of the Theatre Logistics Emerging Requirements
- Showing a high degree of judgement in the analysis and reporting of risk and recommending appropriate actions
- Building and sustaining productive working relationships and with Defence Logistics Enterprise stakeholders, Relevant ADF Capability Programs and Projects, Industry partner and external stakeholders, and;
- Engaging stakeholders and negotiating complex issues to understand requirements and positively influence Defence Logistics Capability outcomes.
About our Team
The Logistics Capability Branch sponsors and manages logistics capability development, delivery and integration through the logistics capability program and Defence Strategic Review-Logistics Task Force to enable the generation and sustainment of priority areas that align with the Defence Logistics Authority-Delegate's direction. In doing so the Logistics Capability Branch is responsible for:
- Progression and integration of logistics related Defence Strategic Review direction.
- Establishing, managing and maturing projects and programs within the Defence Logistics Capability Program.
- As the Defence Logistics Capability Integrator, effectively influencing, informing and co-designing capability program and project support arrangements to assure supportability of the Joint Force by design.
- Building and maturing the capacity and capability of the Logistics Capability Branch, and ensure its alignment and integration with the One Defence Capability System.
- Successfully accelerating the delivery of critical logistics capabilities under JP8218-Theatre Logistics.

- Have a high level of written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to work independently with minimal staff oversight
- Be able to work within complex and ambiguous environments
- Be experienced in facilitating working groups and liaising with internal and external staff
- Have demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
- Have an understanding of the Defence Strategic Framework and;
- Have experience within the Defence Logistics Enterprise (ideally).
