Seeking an experienced executive leader to provide strategic leadership for the Strategy, Policy and Reform Division | Excellent opportunity to work as part of the Department of Health Executive Leadership Team | Executive contract position based in Brisbane CBD
The role
Reporting to the Director-General, this pivotal role has responsibility for driving the strategic agenda for public health in Queensland. Requiring both a strategic and detailed approach, this is a broad role which includes developing policies and legislation, driving communication strategies, leading reform, including through innovative funding strategies and driving special projects of critical importance.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will leverage an in-depth understanding of the strategic issues facing the public health system and drive the delivery of innovative and effective initiatives, policies and programs that facilitate sustainable health care services across Queensland.
You will provide strategic leadership to your team, fostering a culture of collaboration, and influence a diverse range of stakeholders to advocate on behalf of the Department in a range of internal and external forums.
Additionally, you will possess a deep understanding of the health landscape, being aware of future trends to ensure that the Department remains on-course to deliver its priorities.
The successful person
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in an executive capacity within a large, complex organisation. You will have a thorough knowledge of the machinery of government, Policy and legislative processes and the trends influencing the health sector. You will have a track record of delivering expert advice and developing innovative strategies in response to these changes, thinking critically and acting on the broader purpose of the system.
With proven experience in managing teams in an environment committed to best practice, you will be able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills in complex environments characterised by diverse stakeholder groups and be adept at working as a collegial and collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary executive team.
About Strategy, Policy and Reform Division
Strategy, Policy and Reform Division (SPRD) is responsible for driving the strategic agenda for public health in Queensland. We work closely with other Queensland government agencies and cross-jurisdictional colleagues, including at the Commonwealth level.
Key strategic functions are brought together under SPRD that develop policies and legislation to guide and protect the health of the community, design communications activities, campaigns and strategies to engage and empower Queenslanders to improve their health, lead and manage Queensland Health's system sustainability reform, including through funding strategy, and lead special projects of critical importance.
