The Role
The Deputy Director Program & Business Support will:
- Be accountable to the Director Logistics Capability Program for providing Program and Business Support to Logistics Capability Branch (LCB)
- Be accountable for the management of LCB business processes, including development and updates to the LCB Business Management System
- Be accountable to perform very complex procedural, operational, administrative and Business management activities to support the delivery of outcomes across Defence
- Plan and manage the administrative, program, procurement and Business Support activities for the team and other work areas, identify risks and determine appropriate course of action to meet stakeholder needs
- Support procurement planning, tendering and contract formation and management activities while ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures
- Monitor and manage contract administration, performance and risks against the contract and contribute to appropriate action and;
- Other tasks as directed in support of LCB objectives.
About our Team
The Logistics Capability Branch sponsors and manages logistics capability development, delivery and integration through the logistics capability Program and Defence Strategic Review-Logistics Task Force to enable the generation and sustainment of priority areas that align with the Defence Logistics Authority-Delegate's direction.
In doing so the Logistics Capability Branch is responsible for:
- Progression and integration of logistics related Defence Strategic Review direction.
- Establishing, managing and maturing projects and programs within the Defence Logistics Capability Program.
- As the Defence Logistics Capability Integrator, effectively influencing, informing and co-designing capability Program and project support arrangements to assure supportability of the Joint Force by design.
- Building and maturing the capacity and capability of the Logistics Capability Branch, and ensure its alignment and integration with the One Defence Capability System.
- Successfully accelerating the delivery of critical logistics capabilities.
Our Ideal Candidate
We are seeking someone who:
- Has experience in program/project management practices and processes
- Has experience in business process mapping and Business improvement activities
- Has experience or knowledge of the Capability Life Cycle and Capability Development processes
- Has a high level of written and verbal communication skills to develop briefs for Defence Senior Leadership, Ministers and Committees
- Is able to work independently with minimal staff oversight
- Is able to work within complex and ambiguous environments
- Has experience in facilitating working groups, liaising with internal and external staff
- Has demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, and;
- Has an understanding of the Defence Strategic Framework.
