Your new role As a Deputy Managing Lawyer within the Legal Help service, you will play a pivotal role in the ongoing reforms aimed at modernising and client-centric optimisation of Legal Help services. Reporting directly to the Managing Lawyer, your responsibilities will encompass assisting in the management of the Legal Help team, directly overseeing a select team of Senior Legal Help Lawyers, and driving legal policy and process reforms. By fostering strong stakeholder engagement, supporting staff training and development, and ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, you will contribute significantly to delivering accessible legal services to the Victorian community. What you'll need to succeed
A valid Australian practicing certificate entitling practice in Victoria as a legal practitioner/-
Proven experience in people management, legal policy, and complex legal matters
Experience in either criminal, family and or civil law.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
Proficiency in technological systems, or the aptitude to quickly acquire these skills.
Demonstrated understanding and experience working with First Nations Australians, recognising cultural norms, communication styles, and complex issues encountered.
