About Us:
Nursery Road State Special School is a co-educational state school facility providing excellence in education in a friendly and supportive environment. Our school was opened as Mt Gravatt west Special School on 28 July, 1986, to provide educational programs to students with disabilities, particularly students with multiple impairments. Nursery Road State Special is the new name selected by the school community through a community consultation process conducted in 2009.
Our school supports school-age students with high support needs, and very young children with developmental challenges. The student population is drawn from across the south side of Brisbane and maintains a consistent sized school population.
Nursery Road State Special School provides educational programs for students between 5 and 18 years who may have significant delays or impairments in the area of physical, sensory and/or intellectual functioning. In addition a number of our students are diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder. Our specialisation in educational provision is to provide programs for children and young people with multiple disabilities or with a singe impairment diagnosis coupled with complex and challenging behaviour/health support needs.
About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the Deputy Principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
