The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists a Design Assistant to join our Urban Design team based in Perth. This is a casual position over a minimum of 2 days per week, aligned with our student internship program ending in December 2024, with potential for extension/full time work next year. As a Design Assistant you will be undertaking a range of tasks as directed in relation to master planning, design and documentation on Urban Design projects. The varied and flexible nature of this role will be extremely beneficial to students by offering invaluable work experience and exposure to industry specialists while providing flexibility around study commitments.
You will be:
- Assisting in visually communicating key Urban Design design outcomes in a clear and succinct manner using freehand or computer aided programs (including CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, QGIS and rendering programs such as Lumion and Enscape); NOTE CAD CREATIVE SUITE AND SKETCH-UP ARE A MUST
- Assisting in a range of services including site analysis, subdivision plans, structure plan, illustrative plan production, 3d models and report production
- Assisting with the development of proposals and tenders for potential clients and projects;
- Assisting in sourcing and compiling appropriate imagery for projects;
- Gain experience across a wide range of project types, including: individual sites, broad-acre greenfield developments, inner-city urban regeneration, transport and infrastructure, retail, open space parklands, waterfronts, commercial developments, and town centres
About You:
- Currently undertaking a tertiary course in Urban Design, (Landscape) Architecture) or Urban Planning
- Passionate, hardworking and a great fit for our spirited, collaborative culture at Urbis
- Can communicate with confidence and in a responsive manner, both written and verbally
- Some office experience desirable but not essential
- Working experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Suite programs and Sketch-up desireable
