The role: Design Room Manager
As the Design Room Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the Design Function at DISSH. You'll lead a highly creative team of designers, manage the critical path, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and growth.
Your new day-to-day:
- Oversee and manage the critical path across Design, ensuring timely completion of assignments and timelines.
- Mentor and develop a team of highly creative Designers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Identify and nurture talent for succession from within.
- Stay ahead of seasonal trends and market demands to make informed design decisions and product development strategies.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Product to develop seasonal collection concepts. Intimately understand the vision to guide the Design team in the appropriate direction.
- Ensure all product development aligns with the brand's vision, maintaining the balance between cost and quality while upholding brand ID.
- Drive sustainability initiatives throughout the design process, from sourcing materials to production methods, to minimize environmental impact and promote ethical practices.
- Collaborate with the Product Development Manager to expand the supplier folio while maintaining high standards and strong partnerships.
- Work closely with the Head of Product and Design Director to implement and manage fit standards, ensuring consistency and excellence across all product lines.
- Lead weekly fit sessions to evaluate product, provide feedback, and make necessary adjustments to achieve the desired result for our customers.
On your first day, we expect you already have:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience in retail fashion design, ideally within a premium Australian fashion label.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a creative team.
- Deep understanding of product development processes, including sourcing, manufacturing, and quality control.
- Passion for sustainability and experience integrating sustainable practices into design processes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Incredible attention to detail with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
