Job DescriptionYour New Role
Reporting to the Senior Director, the Development Director will lead a high performing team to deliver Development Victoria Housing Statement priorities in regional Victoria.

Core Accountabilities
- Lead, manage and inspire an internal team of development professionals, to ensure team members are empowered to make decisions, proactive when addressing project challenges and supported to grow professionally.
- Motivate the team to deliver on all key project targets, government policy priorities and DV’s own organisational objectives – whilst striving to maximise customer satisfaction.
- Providing strategic direction to enable project teams’ successful delivery of all facets of the projects they manage.
- Play a leadership role across Development Victoria to promote and implement corporate strategy and organisational policies and values.
- Work with the Housing Senior Management team to support delivery of the divisional objectives and priorities in line with Government policy.
- Maintaining oversight of, and overall responsibility for, financial performance of projects – cost and revenue budgets, cashflow forecasts and risks likely to impact forecast return or expenditure/revenue timing.
- Lead the management and delivery of the allocated project/s by ensuring the project team and external consultants and contractors are working efficiently and effectively to meet agreed project deliverables.
- Collaborate across the organisation to establish and deliver marketing and sales strategies, incentives, advertising campaigns and estate promotions.
- Work with the internal communications team to prepare and implement a structured project communications and where relevant develop an engagement methodology to ensure an enhanced customer experience.
- Establish and maintain key governance project documentation.
- Prepare and provide strategic advice to inform key project governance or strategy decisions for senior management, Departments or Ministers.
Please note - This is a fixed term position available for a period of up to 5 years.
Desired Skills and ExperienceAbout You
The role involves a key focus on strategic management and team leadership with the goal of progressing the relevant projects in a complex operating and challenging stakeholder environment.
The ideal candidate will require:
- Tertiary degree or higher qualification in property, architecture, design, engineering, project management, construction, or related fields.
- A demonstrated ability to manage competing stakeholder needs within a value creation & capture framework.
- an understanding of state and local government economic, planning, and other policy drivers, including the Victorian government’s Housing Statement, and their impact on successful delivery of housing projects.
- experience working with a broad range of stakeholders to deliver housing outcomes with the right balance between policy and commercial delivery.
- successful people, strategic and commercial management skills, consistent with organisational goals, objectives, and government policy.
- Ability to manage and prioritise complex issues involving multiple stakeholders with divergent interests.
