Diesel Mechanics - Truck & Plant

An expanding, family owned early works civil contractor company has recently established a new yard in Mount Druitt, and are seeking skilled and motivated in house Diesel Mechanics to join their workforce. They have immediate openings for 2 Yard Mechanics and 2 Site Mechanics to maintain and repair their company owned fleet of trucks and large excavation machines.
Yard Mechanic Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a diverse fleet of 50 trucks and 30 large excavation machines.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
• Work closely with the Transport & Workshop Manager to schedule and prioritize tasks.
• Order necessary parts to fix issues as per the diagnosis
• Perform testing and inspections to ensure vehicles and equipment meet safety standards.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs.

Site Mechanic Responsibilities:

• Respond to on-site breakdowns and emergencies, providing swift and effective solutions.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on plant and machinery at various project sites.
• Collaborate with site supervisors to address mechanical issues and minimize downtime.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and rectify faults.
• Order necessary parts to fix issues as per the diagnosis
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies on-site.

Requirements:

• Mechanical trade qualification (Dual Trade – Mechanical & Auto Electrical will be looked on favorably, however not essential)
• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with a focus on CAT heavy machinery, and Kenworth and Mack trucks.
• 5-10 years experience if looking for a more senior role
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Valid driver's license

Working Hours:

• Yard shifts will be split between morning and afternoon shifts for optimal coverage. Starting from 5am onwards

Start Date:

• Immediate start.

Salary:

• Competitive salary starting at $44 per hour and above, depending on the level of experience.
