Summary:
Direct Care Workers provide basic care and support to individuals who are unable to take care of themselves due to disabilities, age, or illness. They assist patients with daily activities, provide emotional support, and maintain patients’ safety, health, and wellbeing.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with basic activities of daily living
- Monitor and report changes in the patient's health status
- Assist patients with mobility and transferring
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Assist patients with meal preparation and feeding
- Assist patients with maintaining cleanliness and hygiene
- Provide emotional support and companionship
- Complete and maintain accurate records of patient care activities
- Comply with all health and safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Completion of a Direct Care Worker training program
- Valid state certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift patients if necessary
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Ability to pass a background check
