Period of Appointment

Appointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) basis for three (3) years

Duties
  • Support the Executive Director in ensuring the effective coordination of economic strategy for the State between all tiers of government by providing leadership, design and strategy for industry and regional economic development.
  • Provide credible, high-level expertise and strategic advice on complex matters relating to regional economic development initiatives including advice on strategies, policy, priorities and operations for client service delivery and agency programs. 
  • Successfully manage high level and sensitive stakeholder interactions, including complex projects, regional economic stimulus strategies, policy evaluation and managing associated resources and budgets.
  • Provide high level advice and develop strategic policy direction in relation to the Advanced Manufacturing, defence (incl. maritime) industries and other relevant client matters within the sectors.
  • Manage the delivery and review of the Government’s State wide Advanced Manufacturing Action Plan and Defence Strategies to support sectoral growth for the Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries
  • Prepare high level and sensitive briefings, correspondence and reports in relation to those sectoral and other matters.
  • Manage a state-wide team across multiple sites with a view to fostering a broader team and agency collaborative approach and actively pursue intra-departmental information exchange and coordination of resources.
  • Represent the department and government in the provision of high-level strategic responses for community and/or industry events and in negotiations with businesses, other government bodies and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and management of human, physical and financial resources of the Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industry teams to achieve the Department’s and the Government’s strategic objectives.
  • Actively promote a work environment that demonstrates respect for and interest in the well-being of individuals and create a dynamic and diverse work environment for the team.
Essential Requirements

Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role:

  • A Current Driver’s Licence - due to the occupant being required to travel by vehicle regularly and autonomously throughout the State to facilitate the stimulation of business and economic development.
Desirable Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification and/or extensive business or government experience at the appropriate level in public policy and/or community engagement or similar relevant field.
