Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer and working in close partnership with the Advancement leadership team, this position sits within the University's Advancement Office, which comprises Advancement Operations, Alumni Engagement and Development.
The Advancement team at Deakin focusses on building and maintaining relationships with our cohort of over 300,000 alumni and facilitates generous philanthropic gifts to the University from our growing community of over 8,000 donors.
The Advancement team are in the early stages of a three-phase plan to increase our team size, build our engagement capability and build a comprehensive fundraising program incorporating ambitious new goals to support our students, researchers and communities.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Work closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, Advancement Senior Leadership and Advisors to develop, communicate and execute the campaign plan, timelines, and goals; monitor and report on progress, using data to draw insights and prepare forecasts.
- Establish, manage and support the campaign's volunteer leadership committee
- In partnership with University Communications and Marketing teams, oversee all aspects of planning and creative development of campaign communications and brand, and work collaboratively with staff to develop all print materials, style and tone guidelines as including the public launch activities, design and maintenance of a campaign website.
- Investigate and integrate perspectives held within different areas of the University and put plans in place to build collaboration and reach mutually beneficial outcomes, resulting in strong enthusiasm for, and collaboration on the execution of the University's campaign goals.
- Act as a coach and work with team members to facilitate growth and development by giving balanced, constructive feedback considering policy, individual capability and team performance.
- Distil core issues from complex information and feedback, draw accurate conclusions and condense complex information and next steps into simple, concise terms that others can understand.
- Seek feedback on improvement opportunities from a diverse range of key stakeholders and implement change through appropriate channels, and overcome obstacles to change.
- Develop a strong understanding of best practice and emerging trends in Advancement and comprehensive campaigns, including creating frameworks to share this knowledge with the team.
- Experience in the planning and execution of a comprehensive philanthropic campaign in the higher education sector
- A post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline with relevant leadership experience and expertise in client focused programs, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education/training and skills.
- Extensive expertise in financial, operational and resource management and experience derived from industry, commercial and business corporations, foundations and individuals.
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively within complex institutional systems, committee and board structures, and management teams.
