Applications Close: 16 April 2024What you'll be doingThe Director Clinical Engineering is the head of the Clinical Engineering Department throughout the District. They are responsible for the overall vision, strategic planning, implementation, reporting and performance to budget of the service.The Director represents the ISLHD Clinical Engineering service at hospital, District and state levels on all relevant committees, advisory groups and forums.The Director is responsible for the coordination and management of the service's research and research support activities.The Director will operate as part of the District management team, responsible for the efficient and cost effective management and co-ordination of the District Clinical Engineering service, and to ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place with relation to the life cycle management of biomedical devices including evaluation, purchasing, preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and replacement.The role is part of the Clinical Engineering department which provides a high quality medical technology support service to clinical staff in their use of biomedical equipment to monitor, diagnose or treat patients within the District.The Clinical Engineering department operates as a central reference point for all Biomedical Engineering related issues and functions in accordance with best practice, relevant Australian Standards and Industry Guidelines.All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). - Associate Diploma of Electronics and Communications or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution to be eligible for associate membership of Engineers Australia.
- Demonstrated management skills in finance, human resources and service planning.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development, report writing, data collection and related analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in the field of Clinical Engineering with particular emphasis on the development and monitoring of Performance Verification and Preventative Maintenance Programs and the ability to meet critical deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, guide and motivate a team towards meeting essential timeframes and work outputs within a quality improvement framework.
- Proven high level negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Australian standards.
