Renmark Paringa Council has a vision to create a liveable, prosperous, and sustainable community and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director Corporate and Community Services is responsible for providing best practice Corporate and Community Services.
Responsibilities and accountabilities include:
Coordinate and manage the Corporate and Community Services functions of the Council within the available resources of the Council and in accordance with Council's policies and objectives.
Achieve the appropriate corporate goals and objectives as determined through Council's Community Plan.
Promote and enhance the image and interests of the Council in the community.
Develop and foster collaborative working relationships with Council Staff and the Elected Members.
Provide accurate information, reports and advice to the CEO and Elected Members to enable them to make informed decisions.
Monitor and enhance the performance of the department.
Oversee the Annual Business Plan process and ensure the preparation of the Annual Business Plan supports the strategic, statutory and/or management requirements of Council.
Monitor Council's performance against budgets set via the delivery of annual, quarterly and bi-monthly financial reviews to the Corporate Management Team and Council.
Annually review Council's Long Term Financial Plan and present to the Audit Committee and Council.
Lead and inspire an agile, responsive, innovative, respectful, cohesive and high achieving team.
Identify and pursue with the relevant Manager all external funding sources for Council.
Liaise and develop strong working relationships with external stakeholders including other tiers of government.
Provide an excellent customer experience for residents and ratepayers.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a senior management role, ideally working in local government or in strategic corporate or community development areas in a large organisation. Formal qualifications in Accounting, Business Management or Local Government are desirable or equivalent experience. You will be an outcome focussed leader who has exceptional communication skills, adaptability, flexibility and teamwork will be core to your success in this role. You will have a strategic and forward thinking mindset which combined with your strong financial, resource and project management skills, as well as your demonstrated experience in driving organisational change and managing diverse portfolios will ensure the high performance of the department and the Council.
