Total Remuneration Package: $231,159 - $255,262 p.a.

As the Director Health & Safety, you'll spearhead the advancement of a safety culture grounded in shared responsibility. This role is pivotal in establishing and maintaining safe work systems that drive continuous improvement in safety performance. Lead the RFS Health and Safety programs to optimise outcomes for our members, making a tangible and positive impact on their wellbeing.
Reporting to the Executive Director People and Strategy, the Director Health and Safety is responsible for:
- Proactively improving work Health and Safety (WHS) by ensuring safe systems of work and management commitment to member wellbeing.
- Enabling safety leadership and organisational capability for members to work safely and confidently.
- Implementing and monitoring WHS systems for compliance and Safety in an emergency services environment.
- Leading governance and communication processes to inform leaders and members of WHS obligations.
- Providing strategic guidance on agency-wide programs to minimise Health and Safety risks and optimise outcomes.
Our ideal candidate
For this role, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced senior leader with a proven track record of operating in large scale, safety critical and geographically dispersed working environments. The successful candidate will be practically minded whilst being adaptive to designing and implementing innovative strategies that make material differences to our members. In addition, you will possess:
- A depth and strength of experience in Health and Safety;
- Confidence in driving agency-wide programs through strategic guidance;
- The ability to engage with diverse audiences about complex issues; and
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
To be eligible for consideration for this role you must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent expertise.
- Demonstrated leadership experience of diverse teams and implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Expert knowledge and experience in the interpretation and implementation of the Work Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated project management and change management skills
