(Organisation site ) Office of the Independent Assessor; Brisbane City The Office of the Independent Assessor (OIA) is a statutory authority that is part of the councillor conduct complaints framework in Queensland.
We are responsible for assessing, investigating, and where appropriate, prosecuting allegations of misconduct by councillors. Role Overview: This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing team as Director Media and Engagement where you will provide strategic advice to communicate the work of the OIA to stakeholders and the public.
Key Accountabilities: You will have x1 direct report. Reporting to the Deputy Independent Assessor, you will:
- Have the proven ability to provide authoritative and strategic advice to the Independent Assessor on all issues involving Media and proactive stakeholder
engagement.
- Have the ability to design and deliver on innovative prevention opportunities in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Contribute to the strategic management and direction of the Office of the Independent Assessor.
- Produce communication plans to resolve complex and controversial issues in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Ensure hot issues are managed proactively and efficiently including liaison with Ministerial staff.
- Plan and produce all media, communication and Engagement projects across the business.
This includes all media materials and web content, monthly stakeholder columns the design and delivery of proactive prevention opportunities.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with external stakeholders including government agencies, other integrity agencies, the media, councils, industry associations and community about the work of the OIA.
- Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to demonstrate continuing high level and contemporary performance by actively participating in professional development opportunities.
- Actively participate in building relationships, and work with the Prosecutions and Business Support team to ensure continuity within the Office of the Independent Assessor.
- Model professional and ethical behaviour and act in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and Code of Conduct.
About you: To be successful in this role, you will be a self-starter who with a proven ability of providing strategic advice at a high level while also doing the hands-on work required of the role. You will apply your superior communication and management skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders, balance competing demands and solve problems in a politically sensitive environment. The role requires a keen eye for detail and a drive to produce on time and accurate responses, to a wide range of requests for information.
