After a recent organisational re-structure, QCOSS has established a stand-alone Communications and Engagement team that is ready to reach for the stars. We now need an exceptional leader to provide a cohesive communications strategy that enables the right stories, and the right messages to be shared in the right way to reach our target audiences.
Relationships are at the core of everything we do, and our members are our partners in change making. In this role you’ll lead our strategy to build our social services movement through membership growth and Engagement.
Whether it is via our digital platforms, our media presence, or events, in this role you’ll make sure we share our vision, build our power, and have a measurable impact.

About you:
To be successful in this position, you will be used to working in a fast-paced environment, have a passion for work that creates meaningful change, be an outstanding collaborator, and you seek to make a contribution through your career. You will also have:
- relevant qualifications in communications, marketing, or related field with relevant demonstrated experience (min 10 years) including 5 years leadership experience to fulfil the requirements of the role
- substantial knowledge and experience in the tactical planning and delivery of innovative and contemporary communication and Engagement strategies aligned to the organisation’s priorities
- demonstrated significant experience executing strategies responding to internal and external stakeholder needs to deliver high impact campaigns, to acquire new and maintain sponsorships, and the capacity to bring creative and innovative ideas to enhance member recruitment and Engagement
- high level management and leadership capabilities to lead and inspire the Communications and Engagement team to achieve the organisation’s strategic vision and priorities, with proven experience providing coaching and development to employees with a focus on accountability for performance and outcomes
- exceptional problem solving, project management and interpersonal and negotiation skills
- exceptional ability to produce high-quality written material including communication and campaign strategies, media, project proposals, and reports with the ability to translate information into accessible public information
- a strong understanding and commitment to the work of QCOSS and our commitment to social justice and the impact of campaigns on effecting social change.
