Strategic Communication and Engagement Branch are seeking applications for a permanent full-time Director to lead the Media Unit.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategic Communication and Engagement, the Director Media is a key leadership role within the department. The role manages a team of ten through two direct reports and works with a wide range of high profile internal and external stakeholders.
Leading the media and public affairs portfolio, you will provide strategic and operational advice, while supporting the Executive team, Minister’s office, state schools and stakeholders.

About the Role
You will manage the media services and protocols for DoE, including the provision of strategic media and issues management, media training while curating the department's reputation. This is a truly dynamic role and team working across Queensland with external media, the broader education sector, government agencies and the community.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide strategic and operational advice to the Executive Director on all internal and external strategic media and public affairs issues.
- Assist the Executive Director with the strategic planning process for the branch.
- Provide a high level media and public affairs strategy and service delivery for the Office of the Minister, Director-General, Associate Director-General, Deputy Directors-General, central office branches, regions, and schools.
- Manage the media services and protocols for the department, including the provision of strategic media and issues management, proactive and reactive media outputs, media training and to act as the media spokesperson as required in liaison with the Minister's Office.
- Manage the public affairs services for the department, including the provision of speeches, media releases, media alerts and other written materials required by the Minister's Office and the Director-General.
