Job description

Anglican Church Grammar School, known internationally as Churchie, is at the forefront of boys' education both in Australia and internationally. Building on a foundation of over 100 years and in partnership with a diverse and active School community, Churchie’s vision is to be viewed, globally, as a leading Anglican day and boarding school for boys, supporting nurturing and inspiring young men of character who will lead and serve in communities across the world for the common good.  United in our mission, the making of men, our staff are dedicated to preparing students for the future, acknowledging our rich grammar school traditions within a context that is research-focused and ambitious. Given this, Churchie is seeking applicants for the following role.

DIRECTOR OF BOARDING

As a great Australian boarding school, at the heart of the Churchie resides a vibrant Years 7 to 12 residential community that has been the central and enduring feature of the School since foundation. Boys from all over rural, regional, and metropolitan Australia, and beyond, have long given the School its unique character that continues to enrich the fabric in our educational community.

An outstanding opportunity presents for a dynamic and experienced Director of Boarding to lead our boarding community of students, staff, and parents into the future. This opportunity would be ideal for an established, dedicated, educational and boarding leader to grow further in pursuit of a distinguished career in the education of boys.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Education or relevant qualifications (postgraduate study would also be well regarded)
  • Demonstrable experience in, and commitment to, the pastoral oversight and development of adolescent boys
  • Proven experience in teaching and leadership roles within an educational institution
  • Strong understanding of leading and developing a team of residential and day-school educators and specialist boarding staff
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build a strong rapport with all members of the boarding and wider School communities.

The School would prefer a commencement date of Monday 8 July 2024, however, this is negotiable.

The role offers an attractive package including salary, benefits and a modern, spacious family home.

Opportunities for professional growth abound on a beautiful campus amongst a highly dedicated and collegial staff team.

All staff at Churchie are expected to support the philosophies of the School, must either hold or be able to obtain a Blue Card and/or be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers. Churchie supports the rights of children and young people and is committed to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of students and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All candidates are required to undergo a screening process prior to appointment and the successful candidate must comply with school policies and relevant legislation relating to student protection.

It is a requirement that preferred candidates’ details are checked on the Anglican Church’s National Professional Standards Register through the Director of Professional Standards, Anglican Church Southern Queensland.

Interested persons, should in the first instance, carefully consider the Position Description and Selection Criteria documentation which can be located on the Churchie website.  Applications must include a covering letter addressing the selection criteria.

Applications close Friday 16 February 2024 at 5.00pm.
