The Noosa Shire was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2007 for the high value of its natural environment and a community committed to sustainable development.
The Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation established by the Noosa Shire Council. Its role is to manage a charitable trust to advance research, education and information about, and protection of, the Noosa Biosphere Reserve.
About the role
The NBRF is run by an expertise-based volunteer Board of 8 Directors including one representative from Noosa Council. The NBRF is committed to increasing diversity on its Board and maintaining Gender Equity.
The NBRF is seeking highly-motivated candidates with demonstrated interest / experience in social, economic and environmental sustainability to join its Board of Directors.
Two volunteer roles are available, one being the Company Secretary – for this role an accountancy background would be preferable.
Board meetings are held once a month, a minimum of 10 and maximum of 12 times per year, including the AGM which usually takes place in November.
Candidates should have the ability to manage their time in order to participate in board meetings and sit on a least one committee / working group which meets approximately once a month.
