About the opportunity
The Director, Research Infrastructure (Partnerships and Projects) is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction in the areas of partnerships, communications, and Projects related to Research Infrastructure. The role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify and establish partnerships, communicate effectively about the University's Research Infrastructure, and manage a diverse suite of projects related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of Research Infrastructure. The Director, Research Infrastructure (Partnerships and Projects) ensures that the University's Research Infrastructure aligns with Sydney 2032 strategy and contributes to its success.
The role reports into the Pro Vice-Chancellor Research Infrastructure and will work in collaboration with Director, Research Infrastructure (Platform Operations) to make up the senior leadership of the Research Infrastructure Office.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
develop effective and compliant commercial partnership frameworks and coordinate relationship management; oversee Research Infrastructure Sydney’s portfolio of commercial users and partners
identify, manage, coordinate, and realise funding opportunities for Research Infrastructure at the international, federal, and state levels, in collaboration with the Research Portfolio Pre-Award Team
develop and implement a strategic communications and engagement plan that effectively communicates the University's Research Infrastructure to internal and external stakeholders, including researchers, administrators, funding agencies, and the public, through various channels, including websites, social media, newsletters, and events
establish and maintain senior relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry, academia (researchers, faculties, MDIs etc), Local Health Districts and government, to identify opportunities for collaboration in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Research Infrastructure.
About you
academic graduate degree in business administration, engineering, science, commerce, or a relevant field, together with extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience in a related field
demonstrated extensive capacity to conceptualise and develop strategic communication and engagement strategies and realise commercial and other partnerships in a Research Infrastructure context
ability to easily and fluidly build effective and efficient customer-focused working relationships with key stakeholders across functions and across the University, as well as with and within external organisations
strong working knowledge of the Australian research funding landscape and the ability to recognise and convert international research funding and partnering opportunities
proven track record of working and delivering superior results in the tertiary education sector, or at a complex multi-faceted organisation and a demonstrated understanding of the impact of research activities on the University
extensive demonstrated experience in stakeholder management and partnership development, including the development of novel commercial and partnership frameworks.
