Shareholder Entities and Community Housing
Shareholder Entities and Community Housing group (SECH) oversees a range of commercial government business enterprises (GBEs) and supports the Office of the Housing Registrar to provide regulatory oversight of the community housing sector.
Shareholder Advice
The Shareholder Advice team provides shareholder services and performance monitoring and governance oversight of government business enterprises (GBEs) whose core activities are commercial in nature.
Housing Registrar
The Housing Registrar is the regulator responsible for oversight of the community housing sector in Victoria. The Office of the Housing Registrar provides administrative support that assists the Registrar to discharge duties, functions and powers under the Housing Act.
The Housing Registrar also has a role in developing capacity and capability in the sector to ensure registered agencies deliver quality rental housing services and are better placed to deliver growth in housing stock to help meet demand.
About the role
As a leader at DTF, you will contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Department through effective communication, influence and networking. You will be a role model in your capacity as a leader of talented people and provide direction and support to ensure priorities are met.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the responsibilities of this role include:
- Providing strategic, expert advice and counsel to the Executive Director Shareholder Advice and Community Housing, Deputy Secretary Commercial, Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and other Ministers.
- Overseeing Government Businesses including applying a corporate governance and financial performance analysis and monitoring to corporate planning and financial reporting.
- Leading the Shareholder Advice team to ensure the timely delivery of team and Departmental outputs to the service standards required including for financial reporting and relevant budget products.
- Ensuring a customer/client focused service provider culture within the team through the design, development, promotion and monitoring of services to achieve excellence in service delivery.
- Maximising the value of outcomes and contribute to establishing an environment in which the team is accountable.
- Displaying commercial judgement in the areas of governance, strategic resource management, communication, agility and professional service.
About you
We are seeking applications from candidates with demonstrable experience in:
- Effective leadership with the ability to collaborate, communicate clear direction and provide mentorship where required
- Delivering solutions to complex commercial problems
- Building strong and effective relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
- Providing accurate and authoritative governance and commercial advice on complex issues
Experience and qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in business, finance, property or law is preferred
- Strategic thinking and change management experience
- Public policy development
- Experience in managing commercial issues
