About the role:

As the Director, Systems (Oceania), you will work and partner with senior management and regional ASO (Asia Systems Office) leadership to drive the bank's IT and digital strategy for Oceania, aligning with the overall IT and digital strategy led by the regional ASO leadership.

In close collaboration with the Head of ASO and Head of Oceania, you will

oversee the department to deliver and maintain cost effective IT solutions and provide timely and quality IT support, whilst meeting the company's policies and local regulatory requirements. This includes, and is not limited to, systems development and production support, data centre and IT network/infrastructure/telco management, end user support, access control, technology information security, planning IT direction for the future, and creating IT related risk strategies and mitigation plans.

What you'll be doing:

Strategic:

  • In partnership with the Head of Oceania, regional leadership team and local senior management, develop and lead Oceania's short, medium and long-term IT strategy to align to Bank's global and regional vision.

  • Take strategic oversight of critical projects on behalf of leadership team including providing overall technical leadership and direction to system/technology team. Encourage controlled innovation and improvement in the technology and data systems, processes and ways of working.

  • Oversee the effectiveness of technology resources within Oceania and ensure the sufficiency and development of resources and information security system to support the objective of the bank.

  • Drive change and transformation in line with the Group, Regional and Oceania technology strategy to support business growth and create efficiencies.

Financial:

  • Manage and deliver the IT budget for Oceania and oversee all IT projects to ensure they are implemented on-time and within budget.

  • Enhance cost competitiveness and return of IT investments, aligning with global and regional strategy to improve efficiencies.

Customer:

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with the frontline business and other functions across the branch to work through system issues, understand the business needs and to provide solutions and alternatives.

  • Act as a trusted advisor and key point of contact to Executive Committee and stakeholders on IT related topics and influence the committee to support and approve the implementation of proposed enhancements.

  • Work in partnership with regional offices and partner with colleagues across various departments to support implementation of projects, polices and processes.

People:

  • Provide management and oversight to the systems team within Oceania and build a culture of IT professionals focused on deep business alignment, accountability for outcomes and continuous improvement.

Control:

  • Formulate, review and implement various IT standards and procedures in response to changing legislation, regulations, and standards.

What we are looking for:

As the successful candidate, you will have a minimum 15 years' experience working in IT or a related field, along with experience operating in a strategic role at Director level or equivalent. You'll have a proven record of successfully leading and delivery of transformation and change, as well as a thorough understanding of relevant regulations such as CPS234 and experience in managing audits and requests from regulators. Experience in Financial Services is highly advantageous but not essential.

Technically, you'll have a sound understanding of infrastructure, information security, network and systems administration, data centres and telecommunication systems. Knowledge and understanding of the digital and data landscape, as well as emerging technologies, are also important.

You will have strong knowledge of project management principles, a range of agile delivery methods with proven ability to adapt to business needs. You will also be able to demonstrate a proven ability to control and provide oversight of a department budget.

Good communication, influencing and interpersonal skills to bring stakeholders on board are essential, using data to drive business outcomes. Strong commercial and negotiation skills together with an ability to commission external suppliers and services, are also required.
