We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Disability Services Manager who shares our values to join our team in Broome.

Living in the Kimberley Region The Kimberley region offers one of the most diverse and breath-taking landscapes in the world. We currently looking for Disability Services Manager: Pay Range $125,000 – $137,000 per year. This position is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation of the Broome Hub. Through management of a high-performance workforce, the position is to ensure delivery of a quality, person-centred service model that aligns to individual support plans, fosters best practice in service delivery while also managing business, financial and risk requirements.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Support participants by promoting quality delivery of service through consistent good practice.
  • Ensure that workers understand and demonstrate good practice based on NDIS principles, as described in NDIS Framework.
  • Engage with and learn from people with lived experience as colleagues, experts and advisers.
  • Support and reinforce a culture that is interested in, responsive to and supportive of diversity and inclusion.
  • Communicate expectations to direct reports about their role, how they should conduct themselves and why.
  • Create and promote opportunities for direct reports to work collaboratively with others in the participant’s support team, other services and with members of the participant’s informal support network.
  • Provide direct reports with current best practice examples, models, tools, practice leadership and coaching and resources relevant to participant needs, culture, and circumstances.
  • Support direct reports to monitor and report meaningful participant outcomes and build understanding of pre- and co-requisite conditions required to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Ensure direct reports know about and can access resources and advice they need to support participants such as specialist and mainstream supports relevant to cultural, religious, and social identity needs and preferences of participants.
  • Identify participants (individuals and cohorts), situations, or circumstances that are vulnerable to heightened risk and support workers to understand and manage risks appropriately.
  • Support and encourage workers to identify and report early and current indicators of discrimination, exploitation, neglect, abuse, or violence
  • Ensure that workers understand their role and responsibilities in supporting participants to keep themselves safe and healthy, including accessing routine health screenings and preventative health care.
  • Ensure workers understand their responsibilities and can support participants to exercise their rights, including processes to provide feedback and lodge a formal complaint.
  • Build workers capability to support positive risk taking and to work alongside participants to implement individual safeguards that enable choice and manage risks
  • Manage delivery of services within budget
  • Manage new referral process
  • Manage participant exit for smooth transition of supports
  • Conduct internal audits and implement continuous improvements
  • Effective human resource management to ensure appropriate coverage of support services including succession planning and career progression of staff
  • Oversee safe use of vehicles and hub fleet, including fit-for-participant, refuelling and housekeeping.
  • Obtain knowledge of and follow Far North Community Services’ policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Carry out other tasks designated by the Operations Manager to ensure the organisation complies with NDIS Practice Standards and our company policy; procedure & process is maintained to high standard.
  • Attend and actively contribute in team and organisational meetings, training and organisational events.
  • Report & investigate any incident or potential for harm (near miss) within NDIS Quality & Safeguarding rules and WorkSafe WA requirements and ensure principles of natural justice is carried out.
  • Provide opportunities for direct reports to receive and provide feedback, refine skills and knowledge, and think about how their personal values, biases, assumptions, and attitudes influence their practice

Selection Criteria: Essential Tertiary qualifications in Disability Services, Community Services or related field or relevant work experience. Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role. Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of services for people with disability. knowledge of the National Standards for Disability Services, NDIS Code of Conduct and NDIS Practice Standards and their application in the delivery of high quality person and family centred supports for people with disabilities.

Essential Credentials NDIS Worker Screening check. National Police Certificate (not older than 3 months). Valid Drivers licence. Working with Children Card.

Desirable Understanding of the unique culture of the Kimberley region, including the diversity of cultures within rural, remote and very remote communities which make up this region. Demonstrated experience managing budgets.
