We believe that every Queenslander deserves an amazing life experience, and our motto is "Providing care your way." We tailor our support plans to suit each individual and ensure dignity, integrity, and respect for each of our valued participants.

We are seeking experienced and passionate Disability Support Workers for our SIL Accommodation Services. Our SIL accommodation supports people living with complex, and enduring psychosocial disabilities, with many participants requiring 24-hour support.

As a Disability Support Worker, you will work collaboratively with participants by providing personalized one-to-one or two-to-one support. Your goal will be to help participants engage and enhance their daily living skills, strengthen relationships with families and carers, enhance social connections and community networks, and grow confidence and independence to live safely in the community.

About You:

We're looking for someone who:

  • Wants to build independence and capacity of participants with psychosocial disability, intellectual disability, mental health, and/or physical health needs.
  • Can evaluate every situation from a trauma-informed perspective and act in a manner that helps to enhance the lives of our participants and reduce the impact of trauma.
  • Has experience working with individuals that have been significantly impacted by trauma and is consistent and reliable in all aspects of your service delivery.
  • Has at least one year of experience managing challenging behaviours and providing positive behaviour support.
  • Values honesty and integrity and has a proven track record when it comes to displaying these values in employment.
  • Can set clear, consistent, and kind boundaries and can follow employment guidelines set out for you to the letter.
  • Is flexible in your service delivery and can adapt to your surroundings and the needs of participants that require our support services.
  • Is an empathic person who is a great listener and believes in precision and order.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with complex care needs and moderate to high challenging behaviours.
  • Commitment to engaging with services within the scope of participant positive behaviour support plans, individual behaviour protocols, and programs.
  • Comfortable with personal care, including assistance with bathing, toileting, dressing, and grooming.
  • Provide intensive daily support to both young people and adults engaging with our services.
  • Domestic cleaning.
  • Detailed shift reports, progress reporting, incident reporting, and other data capturing requirements during shifts.
  • Manage and maintain complex health needs.
  • Schedule and attend appointments and social events.
  • Meal planning and preparation.
  • Participation in recreational activities.
  • Shopping.
  • Light cleaning and other domestic duties.
  • Light gardening and minor yard maintenance.

Essential Criteria:

  • Willing to work shift work, including days, weekends, nights, active/inactive overnights across a 24/7 roster.
