Exemplary Care Support Services is looking for experienced and self-assured Support staff on a casual basis to join our team in the Southern/Western suburbs of Adelaide who will be reporting directly to our Director Matthew Birtwistle.

The job role will require you to work mainly 1:1 with participants as a mentor and in respite environments with future prospects of group activities and excursions.
Candidates may apply from all across Adelaide, however we have a main emphasis on Southern Adelaide currently.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist participants of the NDIS with activities of daily living (ADL’s)
- Create positive relationships with participants
- Assist participants to meet their NDIS goals
- Transport participants to activities/events throughout a shift
- Promote positive engagement between the participant and the public whilst caring for the participant
- Empower participants to live the life that they choose rather than saying no
- Advocate for each and every participant of the NDIS, whether they be a participant of eMpowerCare Disability Services or another organisation
- Abide by WHS standards and behave in a safe manner whilst with participants to ensure yours and the participants safety
- Keep on top of all report writing/bookwork required for each shift
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Experience:
- A minimum of 12 months experience in Disability Support work is required for this position
- Prior experience with young males living with ASD, PDA and ADHD is highly desirable
Skills:
- Ability to maintain composure in high stress environments
- Extroverted attitude to be able to engage with multiple participants positively
- Interest in multiple ‘hobbies’ or ‘activities’ that participants may find interesting
- Creative and innovative mindset
- Ability to use different behavioural tools to diffuse situations or to avoid behaviours of concern (redirection, first/then, repetition, reinforcement etc)
- Well spoken
- Engage well with animals (pets), and members of all age groups
- Ability to withhold prejudices and opinions and be ‘open minded’ to different point of views
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- First aid certificate
- Manual handling certificate
- Working with childrens/vulnerable persons check
- Police clearance
- NDIS worker screening check
- Driver’s licence
- Certificate III in Individual support (Disability) not necessary but desirable
