OVERALL, PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible for optimizing the productivity of the fleet for pick-ups and deliveries in a manner that ensures we meet our customer's expectation of a quality service, specifically this role is responsible for ensuring permanent and ad hoc runs are allocated to drivers in a fair and equitable manner, whilst ensuring a customer focused approach.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ensure the appropriate level of vehicles are maintained in line with the business needs.
· Ensure new contractors understand the dispatch unit to create a smooth transition to the fleet.
· Ensure permanent runs are allocated daily with back-ups in place and drivers are on time.
· Responsible for the allocation of pick-ups through computerized dispatch system.
· Ensure the correct booking information is entered prior to allocating to a driver.
· Proactively maintaining a positive can-do relationship with customers and ensure regular communication in a timely manner.
·Assist in the back up of staff o leave, sickness and high-volume times.
· Create safe driving plans as/ when required for regional deliveries.
· Carry out compliance related tasks in line with company and legislative requirements.
SKILLS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB
Technical
· Working knowledge in Word, Excel, Power Point, Rockhopper, FMS, White and Blue Rockhopper, Crystal reports, Data warehouse applications
· Working knowledge of Rockhopper TMS (preferred)
· Knowledge of Metro and Greater Melbourne geographical area
· Experience in vehicle allocations and knowledge of NHVL and COR
· Knowledge of various vehicle types and their specifications within the transport industry (preferred)
Business
· Resource management and operational capacity planning
· Ability to initiate and complete improvement projects
· Time management to suit organisational objectives
· OH&S policies and corporate governance
· Strong understanding of Cost, Margin, and EBIT and associated financial reports.

· Required to develop a close positive working relationship with all internal customers of the TGE - Courier division and drivers
· Be proactive in developing and maintaining strong customer relationships

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Secondary: Successful completion of secondary education or equivalent.
Tertiary: Relevant logistics management qualification or degree preferred.
Professional: Transport operations experience preferred.
