Technical Writers – Hybrid

• Six and Twelve-month contracts (with potential for extension).
• Premium hourly rate. 
• We seek professionals with Engineering/Industrial experience and the desire to write clear instructions.

Waters Multimedia is a specialised Technical Writing consultancy and contractor who has been operating in the resources and defence sectors in Queensland for twenty-five years, helping companies to document their operations and maintenance functions for quality, safety, compliance and risk mitigation purposes.  

We are looking for several professionals who can write, for a really good reason - our client has work on and we need a hand!  Our client is in the Energy sector and has a reputation for being a quality employer and corporation to partner with.  We have enjoyed the projects we have helped them with because it’s a great corporation, doing great work, with great people.  

In line with their ongoing commitment to improving systems and safety, our client continues to further invest in documenting their operations and maintenance functions with industry best practice documents, to lead their people safely in their daily work, including:

• Work Instructions 
• Operational Procedures
• Planned Maintenance procedures

The Technical Writers will work with our client’s staff to obtain information to create these documents and see them through approval to publication. Based in Brisbane and on site, these roles attract a premium hourly rate for the right professional contractor.  

Come and join us if you:

• Have two years experience or more in developing the above types of documents in the industrial arena.  You may have worked in mining, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing or heavy engineering.  We’ll call you a Technical Writer, but you may have been known as an Engineer, Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, Quality Officer, Trainer or an OHS Professional.
• Have experience with Simplified Technical English (STE) or can demonstrate a track record in writing simply for all levels of reader.  
• Ideally, you will also have experience in obtaining operational information from site based and/or shift operators and maintainers to develop procedures, work instructions or ‘how-to guides’.  These people are our Subject Matter Experts (SME’s).
