POSITION DESCRIPTION

Domestic Support Worker

Reviewed Annually

This is a Casual Role paid in accordance with the National Employment Standards and the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (MA000100) Level 1. With the opportunity for Permanent Part Time or Full time in the future. This role is located in Far North Qld and is servicing the Townsville Region. We will always endeavour to put your shifts as close to your home as possible to minimise travel but you are paid for travel km's to the clients home at a generous rate.

Reports to: Townsville Regional Manager

Direct Employees: Nil

Primary role

As a Domestic Support Worker your main role will include supporting the daily tasks of participants on the NDIS, DVA Or Aged Care Support Programs. This may be through house cleaning, tidying, organising, grocery assistance, laundry and other household tasks and services.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Attitude Required:

Must have a passion for people, be willing, compassionate and must be eligible for the following:

• Working with Children (Blue Card) & Disability Services (Yellow Card).

2. Must comply with supervisors at all times and are to fulfil the following duties as required

a) Carry out daily duties as set out by NDIS Service agreement b) Always act in the best interest of the participant

c) Show up to work promptly and conduct yourself in a professional manner by compliance with All policies & Procedures.

d) Report all near misses, incidents, accidents, confrontations complaints in relations to Quality, Safety and Environmental to AkinCare Management at the first available opportunity and provide written statements/incident reports or evidence as required.

3. Ensure any required paperwork is completed within the requested 4me frames. • Timesheets, Case notes, Incident reporting, requests etc

1. Drivers License and be able to pass a police check

1. Ensure effective communication channels with other staff, supervisor, management, participants, carers and other relevant stakeholders.

1. Ensure accurate notes are kept. These notes are to be completed at the end of EVERY shift

2. Incidents are reported and finalised in our employee app

3. Remain compliant at all times by staying up to date with required training both physical and online. Providing new copies of expired documents in a timely manner

2. Ensure a positive public image of AkinCare Support & Services

4. All business activities comply with Akin Care Support & Services’ Code of Conduct, regulatory and legislative requirements and ethical practices. Especially when wearing AkinCare Uniform outside of work hours

5. Policies and procedures are adhered to.

6. Displays honesty and truthfulness, confronts problems quickly and displays strong commitment to organisational success and inspires others to make and achieve goals.

3. Maintain appropriate records in accordance with established documentation protocols.

7. All records are completed in accordance with established documentation protocols. Ensuring notes are completed, accurately and efficiently following the AkinCare SOAP method

4. Participate in staff meetings, and in regular supervision and training.

8. Attendance at supervision, performance evaluation sessions and training, and in turn engage in such activities with subordinate staff

1. Follow participant care plans that support personal life choices. Always be working towards participants Care Goals

- A person-centred approach in service delivery is adopted.

-Participants are assisted to live in a clean, safe hygienic environment

- Outcomes achieved demonstrate informed choice by participants and this is documented. - All participants are treated with respect and cultural sensitivity and awareness is displayed. - The rights and responsibilities of participants and their carers respected and maintained at all times - Services provided meet the QLD Disability Services Standards and other relevant legislation.

2. Be willing, able & Suitable to Support participants in all aspects of daily domestic tasks, including but not limited to:

- Carry out domestic duties including menu planning, cooking, serving meals, cleaning and shopping.

- Individual needs of participants are met.

Key Result Area - FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY AND BUSINESS PERFORMANCE

1. Contribute to the effective financial management and sustainability of the organisation.

1. Payroll staff receive timesheets on time to process.

2. Expenditure of individual participant plans is within budget and service guidelines and procedures.

3. Data entered into Brevity (and progress notes) is accurate and timely.

4. You treat your equipment with respect and products are used in a reasonable manner

1. Constantly referring back to participant Goals to make sure activities align with the purpose.

3. Initiates and manages the change process and energises and accelerates it on an ongoing basis, taking steps to remove barriers when they arise.

4. Implementation of updated policies and procedures.
