Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Drafting Project Manager/Team Leader to join our Townsville head office. In this pivotal role, you will assist in leading our drafting and design team, ensuring the successful completion of projects within the mining, construction, and sugar industries. You will be responsible for managing project information, maintaining high-quality deliverables, mentoring staff, and aligning our outputs with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
- Oversee the drafting process for multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to client specifications.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather and verify project information.
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of draftsmen, providing guidance and support to junior staff members.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss project updates, challenges, and solutions.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of all works and project documentation.
- Implement and maintain drafting standards and protocols.
- Conduct quality checks and reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Client Coordination:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and ensuring their needs are met.
- Align deliverables with client expectations and industry best practices.
- Provide regular project updates and reports to clients and stakeholders.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the drafting team.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies.
- Resource Management:
- Manage resources effectively to ensure optimal utilisation of time, budget, and personnel.
- Track and report on project metrics, including time spent, costs, and outcomes.
- Attendance and Leave Management:
- Maintain a high level of attendance and manage team members’ sick leave and absences effectively.
- Ensure adequate coverage and support for ongoing projects during team members’ absences.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Diploma in Project Management or
- Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) would be favoured.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a drafting or project management role, preferably within the mining, construction, or sugar industries.
- Be confident with structural steel fabrication capabilities, mechanical platework, foundation concrete details and erection methodology.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a team.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in drafting software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Navisworks).
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
