About the role
Thiess currently have great permanent opportunities available for Blast Hole Drillers to join our team at QCoal Northern Hub. Reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor, you will be highly motivated and work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.
The QCoal Northern Hub is situated in the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, about 200 kilometres' northwest of Mackay and 6km south of Collinsville.
Working a 7 on and 7 off roster you will:
- Work in accordance with site's procedures
- Accurately check the quality and depth of drill holes and record ground conditions that may affect blasting;
- Maintain a clean and tidy Drill rig and report/address any maintenance faults;
- Demonstrate a positive attitude towards regular and reliable drill metres, rig utilisation and consumables usage;
- Provide neat and complete associated documentation for drill reports and pre-starts checks;
- Regularly use and active participation in safety assessments; and
- Be willing to be trained across a variety of drill rigs in the fleet and show an adaptable attitude.
- Minimum 12 months drilling experience in the mining industry
- Experience with rotary or top hammer drills
- Relevant qualification to undertake the role of a driller
- S11 or willing to obtain
