Forming part of Orygen Specialist Program, a program of the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Orygen @ Home is an acute service providing access to care 24-hours, 7-days per week by a multidisciplinary team completing shift work rosters, and ensuring comprehensive, collaborative and coordinated mental health care to young people aged 15 to 25 and their families/carers in Melbourne's northwest and western suburbs.
Your new role:
A multidisciplinary role open to Grade 3 Registered Psychiatric Nurses and Grade 2 Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Psychologists.
You will be joining the team in a newly created role as the Dual Diagnosis Clinician to support the implementation of substance use evidence-based practices, such as identification, assessment and interventions, within Orygen @ Home in collaboration with other teams and disciplines across Orygen. In this role, you will also:
- Partner with young people and families/carers to provide inpatient-like care within their home environment
- Provide routine screening, treatment planning for potential complications, referral pathways and safe transition of care for young people with co-occurring mental ill health and problematic substance use
- Provide Dual Diagnosis specific input to the team, including support with assessment and treatment planning, and training
- Provide inclusive and sensitive practice to young people and their families/carers from Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA backgrounds
- Relevant registration and qualifications (see attached position description)
- Demonstrated experience in the application of clinical practice specifically with young people experiencing mental health disorders, and demonstrated understanding of interventions for reducing alcohol and drug related harm.
- Previous experience in the AOD sector and the ability to provide expertise regarding youth addiction and Dual Diagnosis.
- Comprehensive experience in the application of clinical practice, particularly in youth mental health
