What does the role involve?
The Duty Manager oversees a team of Team Leaders, drivers, and freight handler staff. Their main objective is to achieve the agreed budget and performance targets. The Duty Manager will analyse the performance of the facility operations and identify improvement opportunities. You will work with the Facility Manager to develop action plans that will lead to the continued improvement of the facility's operations. The goal of this position is to continuously enhance operational efficiency while keeping costs to a minimum and striving for service excellence.
The role of the Duty Manager is to provide clear direction, accountability and collaboration across facility processing teams in alignment with business objectives. Day to day will see you:
- Actively develop and foster a capable support and team network to ensure commitment to facility objectives
- Manage allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to enable achievement of facility objectives
- Be the topic matter expert in relevant area of responsibility to ensure operational and customer needs are aligned with delivery of high service quality
- Lead change and innovation within teams
- Drive new cultural practices, systems and processes that support desired change
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, including managing customer relationships in collaboration with commercial and customer service teams, as required
- Assist and identify opportunities for service and efficiency improvement within the facility.
- Analyse daily facility activities to identify processing control issues
- Use various data mediums to manipulate, analyse, and present data for continual processing improvement
What experience will you have?
We're looking for motivated candidates who can bring the best out of people under their leadership. In terms of your experience, ideally, you will have:
- 3-4 years' experience in a Supervisor role, preferable Transport Background
- Strong people management skills to develop the current team
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
- Having a good understanding of financial matters is essential.
- Influence and Implement change in the business
- Safety focused
- Understanding of optimisation and process improvement
