EALD Teacher Aide
Full-Time Term-Time Fixed-Term Position for Semester 2, 2024
8:00pm to 4:00pm

The successful applicant will be employed to work as the EAL/D Teacher Aide with international, migrant and indigenous students in a classroom situation under the direction the Assistant Head of Primary and Head of English, Humanities and EALD.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep detailed records of support provided to students each lesson.
- Read necessary texts in order to support students.
- Assist staff with administrative needs.
Primary Schooling
- Assist students to learn English from beginner level to intermediate level.
- Assist students to understand the cultural and social context of activities and texts.
- Assist students to work with differentiated mainstream tasks/ programs.
- Ensure the students are working on target in the classroom.
- Work with students in small groups, pairs and individually.
- Assist students to present their work in word documents, web pages, posters etc.
- Duties as required for the day to day operation of the College

Key Selection Criteria
Previous experience in supporting Primary-aged students.
- Previous experience in supporting EALD students
- Discretion, judgement and confidentiality.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to exercise appropriate judgement and initiative in supporting the students and teachers.
- Developed and accurate computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Novell GroupWise is desirable.
- Certificate III in Education Support
