EALD Teacher Aide

Full-Time Term-Time Fixed-Term Position for Semester 2, 2024

8:00pm to 4:00pm

Clayfield College is a leading independent school, owned and governed by the Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association (PMSA) on behalf of the Presbyterian and Uniting Churches. The successful applicant will be employed to work as the EAL/D Teacher Aide with international, migrant and indigenous students in a classroom situation under the direction the Assistant Head of Primary and Head of English, Humanities and EALD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep detailed records of support provided to students each lesson.
  • Read necessary texts in order to support students.
  • Assist staff with administrative needs.

Primary Schooling

  • Assist students to learn English from beginner level to intermediate level.
  • Assist students to understand the cultural and social context of activities and texts.
  • Assist students to work with differentiated mainstream tasks/ programs.
  • Ensure the students are working on target in the classroom.
  • Work with students in small groups, pairs and individually.
  • Assist students to present their work in word documents, web pages, posters etc.
  • Duties as required for the day to day operation of the College

 Key Selection Criteria

 Previous experience in supporting Primary-aged students.

  • Previous experience in supporting EALD students
  • Discretion, judgement and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to exercise appropriate judgement and initiative in supporting the students and teachers.
  • Developed and accurate computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Novell GroupWise is desirable.
  • Certificate III in Education Support
