About the Centre

At the Civic Early Childhood Centre, we fully utilise our outdoor environment to encourage children to connect with the natural world through exploration and play. Our program is tailored to meet the unique interests of each child, employing a play-based pedagogy while also fostering emotional and social development through trauma-informed practices and the implementation of the Conscious Discipline framework. We adopt an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning, aimed at nurturing dispositions of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.

About the Role

Centre Director (Full Time and Permanent) role at Northside’s Civic Early Childhood Centre will offer informed leadership, fulfilling the roles of Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader in accordance with National Regulations. They will ensure adherence to legislative frameworks and the National Quality Framework, prioritise the welfare of children, families, and educators, and maintain high-quality education. Responsibilities encompass leading quality assurance, overseeing safety and compliance, managing staffing, and guiding curriculum development through pedagogical leadership, aiming to cultivate a culture of critical enquiry and continuous improvement.

About You

To be considered for this position you will need to meet the following criteria (but not limited to):

  • Hold an Early Childhood Teaching Degree as approved by ACECQA (or working towards this qualification).
  • Believes children are confident and capable learners.
  • Is ready to be challenged on their approach to Early Childhood education.
  • Understands the Mandatory Reporting requirements in the ACT, as prescribed in the Children and Young People Act (1999).
  • Hold a current ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
