Corpus Christi College is a co-educational K-12 Catholic college in the southern suburb of Bateman.
The College is seeking applications from committed and dynamic Education Assistants interested in assisting students with Special Needs.
This full-time, fixed term role is an integral part of our K-12 Inclusive Learning philosophy, reporting to the Head of Inclusive Learning (K-12).
Under teacher direction, the Education Assistant (Special Needs) can be expected to perform tasks within the following range:
- assist the teacher in the delivery and evaluation of planned education programs, including the operation of computers; and, under teacher direction, implement individual or small group programs or demonstrations.
- assist the teacher with the care and supervision of students in out-of-class activities and on school excursions.
- assist the teacher with the general care and well-being of student(s) in their care, including attending to students with minor issues eg basic first aid.
- assist with arrival and departure of the student(s) in their care.
- assist students undressing, bathing, dressing, toileting and, where necessary, clean soiled clothing and areas.
- assist with student education by having an understanding of health and physical disabilities of the student(s) in their care.
- assist with the reporting of student progress during IEPs.
- other duties as required by Principal or delegate.
Qualifications required:
- A relevant Certificate III or IV in Special Needs Education
- Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School (or willingness to work towards attainment)
- Current Working with Children Check
